FAQs

WHATS INCLUDED?

Our Biketown tour includes helmets, and a guide – you should download the Biketown App, create an account, and consider reserving your bike prior to arriving for your tour. If you need help your guide will be available 10 minutes prior to departure, though we do leave promptly at our stated departure times.

HOW LONG ARE THE TOURS?

Our Biketown tour lasts approximately 1 hour (depending on group pace), and our route returns to the same starting point.

DO YOU CANCEL TOURS IF IT RAINS?

As it is Portland, we love taking tours out rain or shine unless it is really nasty (Oregon standards) – you’ll receive notification at least 1 hour in advance if your tour is canceled due to adverse conditions, otherwise please bring weather appropriate clothing and plan to ride!

CAN I FILL YOUR LIABILITY WAIVER OUT ONLINE TO SAVE TIME?

Yes, Sign Our Digital Waiver Here

WHERE DO YOU RIDE?

Our Biketown tour starts at Voodoo donuts in Portland’s historic downtown, and after a brief safety talk we cruise over to the Tom McCall Waterfront park where you’ll take several stops to learn about Portland’s past, present, and future while enjoying some of our nations friendliest bike infrastructure. Bridge crossings include the Tillikum, Steel, and (when time permits) the Hawthorne Bridge as you get a feel for the city. The tour then loops back to it’s original start point where your guide will be available for further suggestions, and recommendations about fun things to do in Portland.

CAN I KEEP MY BIKE AFTER THE TOUR?

Biketown bike “day pass” rentals are valid for 90 minutes of ride which is why our tours are scheduled at one hour. Past first 90 minutes Biketown bikes cost .08 cents per minute, or see here for the most current pricing structure. If you’re looking to bike longer, we offer affordable single and multiday rentals at our shop just two blocks from the tour starting point at Cycle Portland, 117 NW 2nd Ave, and participants receive 10% off all additional tours and rentals.

CAN I TAKE MY KID(S) ON TOUR?

Certainly!

Age Limit: 10 and Older

Height Limit: 4’11” and taller

These limits have been determined to offer the best comfort, safety, and enjoyment of the experience for our younger riders.

CAN I BRING MY OWN BIKE OR ONE I HAVE ALREADY RENTED ON A TOUR?

Yes! You are quite welcome to bring your own bike on tour if you desire.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Our Biketown tour departs from the orange bike staple located in front of Portland’s downtown Voodoo Donut shop (at SW 3rd & Ash).

Two blocks away, our primary shop location is Cycle Portland, 117 NW 2nd Ave. Portland Oregon, 97209 across the street from the Oregon Leather Company, near the corner of NW 2nd and NW Couch Avenues in Old Town/China Town.

HOW FIT DO I HAVE TO BE?

This tour is easy paced and geared to the slowest rider so no one gets left behind. Participants should have some cardiovascular stamina and be able to exercise a moderate amount. If you are concerned about your ability to participate please contact us prior to booking.

IS THERE A WEIGHT LIMIT ON THE BICYCLES?

The weight limit for all Biketown bikes is 275 pounds.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I SCHEDULE A TOUR?

If you know that you are committed to taking a tour, we suggest reserving right now. If you’re not quite sure yet, we recommend a week in advance between April and September, and a few days in advance all other times.

DO YOU HAVE LARGE GROUP DISCOUNTS?

We do not offer large group discounts at this time, and work to price our tours as affordably as possible in order to ensure all parties get a great value from their experience.
